Oracle Watch posted an update
Oracle Database@AWS now supports aggregate routes and the default route, 0.0.0.0/0, for peering between applications in an Amazon VPC and databases in an ODB network, AWS says.
Why it mattersPreviously, customers had to advertise each network’s CIDR separately. A single broader route can now cover reachable networks, including those connected through an AWS Transit Gateway, reducing the list of routes to maintain. The capability is available in AWS Regions where Oracle Database@AWS operates, for ODB networks supporting multiple peering connections. A small networking change, but fewer repetitive entries is the sort of progress that earns its keep quietly.
Discuss: For cloud database connectivity, would you favour a default route for simpler network management, or keep routes more narrowly scoped?
