Workday chief executive Aneel Bhusri says he is most worried about AI replacing low-cost jobs, particularly outsourced automation work. He made the comments at the Workday Rising Summit, according to The Economic Times.
Why it mattersBhusri also said AI could mean jobs do not simply move out of the US and other wealthy countries. His point is less “the work is moving home” than “the work may stop needing as many people”. It is a company leader’s view, not a forecast of how many jobs will go. But as businesses build AI agents to automate HR and finance tasks, the question of who bears the cost of productivity gains is becoming harder to leave in the footnotes.
Discuss: If AI makes outsourced work unnecessary, should companies be expected to retrain affected workers, or is that responsibility beyond their remit?
