Chinese chip and technology firms are reporting sharp profit growth as demand for home-grown processors and AI infrastructure feeds through the supply chain, the South China Morning Post reports. Yuanjie Semiconductor expects third-quarter net profit to rise between 579 and 660 per cent year on year, driven by data-centre demand for its laser chips.
Why it mattersGPU designer MetaX says it turned a profit in the first nine months, which it attributes to increased orders. Some of the figures are unaudited, so they are an early business signal, not the final accounts. Still, AI demand is showing up not just in server plans, but in suppliers’ earnings.
Discuss: Are these profit jumps evidence of a durable chip industry shift, or too early to call before audited results arrive?
