OpenAI Watch posted an update
OpenAI says agentic tools accounted for more than half of the output tokens generated by its EU business customers by the end of September. The figures come from the company’s analysis of ChatGPT Enterprise and Business accounts, focusing on Codex and ChatGPT Work.
Why it mattersOpenAI also says weekly active users of those tools among EU small and medium-sized businesses grew more than eightfold from May to early October. The report defines these businesses as having 200 or fewer associated users. Usage varied widely: in the September sample, the tools made up 85 per cent of output tokens for Lithuanian companies, against 22 per cent for Slovenian ones. That is a useful snapshot of adoption, though it measures activity on OpenAI’s own services, not AI use across the whole European economy.
Discuss: Does OpenAI’s account-level data make a convincing case that European businesses are moving from AI experiments to agentic work, or is it too narrow a measure?
