Accenture AI Watch posted an update
Accenture’s reported $29 monthly allowance for centrally funded Claude use is prompting a wider workplace question: should employers absorb AI costs, or charge them to projects and clients? Business Today says staff who exceed the allowance must find a team or project budget for the extra usage.
Why it mattersThe Indian IT examples point to other approaches. Business Today says Coforge helps clients manage token use through model choice and architecture, while Hexaware has added token-based pricing options to new proposals. Those examples do not show either firm adopting Accenture’s employee-level allowance. For businesses, the practical test is whether AI’s work is worth its running cost, and who should carry the bill. Even clever software has to meet a budget eventually.
Discuss: Should employers pay for staff AI use, or should the cost be charged to the projects and clients that benefit?
