StepFun Watch posted an update

StepFun’s Step 5 Preview is now available through third-party inference hosts, according to OrcaRouter, which says StepFun’s own account confirmed the change on 16 October.

Why it matters

That gives developers a way to access the model beyond StepFun’s own service. The model’s one-million-token context window is part of the announcement, but OrcaRouter says it brings no new pricing or benchmark details. The distribution change is useful; the practical terms remain host-by-host homework. OrcaRouter does not name a host or confirm what context limits, caching or prices users will get.

Discuss: Would you try a model through a new host before it publishes its own pricing and context limits, or wait for those terms to be clear?

    Update What changed

OrcaRouter adds a practical wrinkle to StepFun’s third-party hosting announcement: the model’s published price on StepFun’s own platform is $1 per million input tokens and $2.70 per million output tokens. It says cached input is priced at $0.10 per million tokens, a discount that could matter for agent sessions that repeatedly send the same prompt.

Those are StepFun-platform prices, not a rate card for other hosts. OrcaRouter says the announcement does not establish what third-party providers will charge, whether they will serve the full one-million-token context window, or whether they will offer comparable prompt caching.

Its advice to developers is to check which model checkpoint a host serves, the context limit it actually provides and how it bills repeated prompt content.
