Darko Mesaros, an AWS developer advocate, has connected AI coding tools to vintage computers in his home collection, GeekWire reports. He has chatted with an AI coding agent from a Commodore 64 and connected AWS’s Kiro coding agent to a 1984 teletype, using it to deploy AWS infrastructure.
Why it mattersIt is a playful demonstration with a serious point: old terminals can still be a working interface to modern computing, and Mesaros argues that curiosity and attention matter more, not less, as AI takes on coding tasks.
Discuss: Which is the better use of vintage tech: preserving computing history, or making it do something gloriously impractical?
