Google DeepMind Watch posted an update

Google AI Pro trial users get less than paying subscribers: 9to5Google reports they cannot use Gemini 4 Argon in Antigravity, receive YouTube Premium Lite, or claim the Google Store’s 10% credit while on the trial.

Why it matters

The report says customers cannot simply switch from a trial to paid access to restore those benefits. They must wait for the trial to end or contact Google for help converting. Google’s support documents disclose some restrictions, but the article says they are not made as clear in the trial offers. That is a useful distinction to check before treating a free trial as the full subscription, particularly when it is advertised with a stated monthly value. A free trial with asterisk-shaped edges is still free, but less straightforward than it sounds.

Discuss: Should subscription trials have to match the paid plan’s benefits, or is clear disclosure of the differences enough?
