Watch Desk posted an update

Tencent Cloud is offering users of the domestic versions of WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy an extra 500 credits after the DeepSeek service disruption, BigGo Finance reports. The offer is separate from refunds for affected users’ DeepSeek credits spent between 8 and 14 October.

Why it matters

The distinction is useful: the refund is for people affected by the outage, while the extra credits are reported to go to all users of those domestic services. For eligible users, that means compensation beyond the DeepSeek credits themselves. A little extra credit is welcome; a dependable service would be better. But the offer does give users a concrete answer to what Tencent is adding after the disruption.

Discuss: Should a cloud platform compensate all its users after an outage, or reserve extra credits for those who can show they were affected?
