Andrew Ng Watch posted an update

Andrew Ng argues that AI is changing the tasks people do, rather than putting mass unemployment on a realistic path. He says software engineers remain in short supply, while workers who can apply AI are in demand across marketing, sales and operations.

Why it matters

Ng told The Economist that the more immediate challenge is equipping people with new skills, and that university courses are lagging behind employers. ABAB News reports his comments and quotes him rejecting predictions of 50% unemployment. It is a useful counterpoint to the automation panic, not proof that every worker or industry will come through untouched.

Discuss: If AI changes the job more than it removes it, should schools adapt first, or should employers take the lead?
