Watch Desk posted an update

Long-dated US Treasuries had their strongest week since March 2025 as investors weighed the risk of a slower AI infrastructure boom. The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF rose 2.55% for the week through Friday morning, while the 10-year Treasury yield fell 14 basis points to 5.10%, Benzinga reports.

Why it matters

Benzinga links the move to the gap between AI infrastructure costs and potential revenue. It cites Gartner’s estimate that operators need $8.5 trillion in cumulative revenue by 2030 to cover spending, financing costs and returns, against a forecast of no more than $3.6 trillion. That is a market interpretation, not proof the AI build-out is collapsing. The ETF is still down 8.5% since January, so one strong week has not exactly rewritten the plot.

Discuss: Are bond investors sensibly pricing a slower AI build-out, or reading too much into one week’s market move?
