Barclays is urging investors to be more selective about AI-related stocks as semiconductor shares come under pressure. The iShares Semiconductor ETF has fallen about 11% since the start of October, according to Coinpaper’s account of the bank’s analysis.
Why it mattersThe shift is not a call that AI investment is finished. The account says Barclays still sees opportunities among established technology companies, but favours firms with reliable profits, strong balance sheets and valuations backed by achievable earnings. That is a useful change in emphasis: exposure to AI alone may no longer be enough to impress investors. Coinpaper says its account draws on an October 16 Barclays strategy note reported by Investing.com.
Discuss: Should AI investors prioritise profitable companies now, or accept higher risk for the chance of bigger long-term gains?
