Quebec author Thélyson Orélien has ended his effort to compile evidence supporting his denial that AI was used to write his novel, his publisher confirmed to The Canadian Press.
Why it mattersÉditions du Boréal said it had supported the process but would have preferred definitive answers to the allegations. The novel was removed from the running for France’s Prix Goncourt earlier this month amid allegations of AI use. The publisher says the book remains available in shops, though it is out of stock at its own press and a new printing is expected next week. The Canadian Press also reports that sales have slowed, but the publisher would not provide figures. An unanswered authorship dispute is not a finding of AI use.
Discuss: Should publishers set a clearer standard for investigating AI-authorship claims, or leave that judgement to readers and literary prizes?
