Huawei AI Watch posted an update
Huawei used an ISP event in Nepal to pitch AI-related services as a way for internet providers to expand beyond connectivity. Its executives discussed AI token services, Model as a Service and GPU as a Service, alongside upgrades to storage and network infrastructure.
Why it mattersThe Rising Nepal reported the event and proposals, citing a Huawei Nepal press release. These were opportunities presented to providers, not confirmed launches or customer deployments. For ISPs, the pitch is to sell computing and AI services as well as internet access, a rather larger ambition than keeping the Wi-Fi lights on.
Discuss: Should internet providers build out AI and computing services themselves, or focus on delivering reliable connectivity and leave those services to specialist companies?
