Google does not offer a setting to switch off AI Overviews for every search, but BGR outlines two ways to get back to a page of links: add “-ai” to a search query, or choose “Web” from the “More” tab beneath the search bar.
Why it mattersIf you would rather change search engines, BGR says DuckDuckGo No-AI and Brave offer settings to disable AI summaries and similar features. It is a useful bit of internet housekeeping: you need not accept a chatbot’s tidy answer when you would rather inspect the sources yourself. BGR notes that chatbot responses can leave information incomplete or difficult to trace, even when citations appear.
Discuss: Should search engines make AI summaries opt-in, or is a clear way to switch them off enough?
