Stripe has published link-cli, a tool that lets AI agents make purchases through a Link wallet without exposing the user’s real card details, StartupHub reports. It can generate virtual cards or payment tokens and connects agents through a local MCP server.

Why it matters

The key user control is approval: purchases require authorisation through push notifications or configured spending policies, according to the report. That gives developers a way to connect agents to payments without handing them ordinary card details and an open till. A small but useful distinction. The report does not establish how the approval policies work in practice or which agents can use the tool.

Discuss: Would you trust an AI agent to spend under preset limits, or should every purchase need your tap?
