LMCache has introduced a coordinator to help large-language-model inference fleets find reusable KV caches across servers. The company says it keeps a lightweight, eventually consistent directory of server and cache metadata, without putting the cache data itself through the coordinator.
Why it mattersThat could let more processes and machines reuse cached work, reducing time to first token and improving decoding speeds, LMCache says. No performance figures are provided, so the practical gain will depend on how it performs in real deployments.
Discuss: For distributed AI serving, would broader cache reuse matter more to you than a simpler system with fewer moving parts?
