CXMT Watch posted an update

CXMT shares fell more than 6% on Monday after the Chinese memory-chip maker released an earnings forecast covering the first nine months of 2026, CNBC reports.

Why it matters

The move is a market reaction, not proof that demand for memory chips or AI computing is weakening.

Discuss: Does a sharp share-price drop after a profit turnaround signal investors are looking past current results, or is it too soon to read that much into one session?

    Update What changed

The South China Morning Post reports that CXMT forecast net income of up to US$19.8 billion for the first nine months of 2026, alongside a 742 per cent year-on-year revenue surge. The figures put a scale on the earnings forecast behind the share-price reaction, although they remain company forecasts rather than final results.

The paper says CXMT shares fell to an intraday low of 41 yuan on Monday, after closing at 45.02 yuan on Friday. It also reports that the stock had reached 61.8 yuan in August, up as much as 614 per cent from its 8.66-yuan IPO price in July.

The added figures sharpen the picture: a striking forecast has arrived after a remarkable run-up, and the market has pulled back. The forecast and share-price history are reported by the South China Morning Post; they do not by themselves establish what drove the fall.
