Anduril’s Fury drone and General Atomics’ Vengeance are scheduled to take part in Emerald Flag in December, their first large-force exercise, SOFX reports. The drill is expected to bring many aircraft into one scenario, putting crewed-uncrewed coordination to a broader test than a single-aircraft demonstration.
Why it mattersThat makes the exercise a useful next milestone for the US Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft programme. Large-force testing is where the tidy concept of pilots directing autonomous aircraft meets the rather less tidy business of coordinating them at scale.
