IREN Watch posted an update
IREN shares hit a 52-week low of $26.55 last Friday as investors reassessed the value of companies building computing capacity for AI workloads, Yahoo Finance reported, citing Stocktwits. The report says IREN fell 11% that day.
Why it mattersIt also cites a Gartner warning that more than $3.5 trillion in cumulative AI infrastructure investment through 2030 could face financial impairment. That is a projection, not a bill already coming due. The concern is whether providers can earn enough from their specialised computing capacity as large cloud companies expand their own infrastructure. IREN is still expanding its Texas data centres and Nvidia GPU capacity, according to the report. The market signal is worth noting, but one week’s share-price drop does not settle whether the AI build-out will pay off.
Discuss: Should investors treat the risk of excess AI infrastructure as a reason to slow expansion, or as a chance for the best-capitalised providers to gain ground?
