Apple has acquired Samplab, a Zurich-based audio-editing company whose tools could add more precise editing to Logic Pro. AppleInsider reports that the deal covers certain Samplab assets and employment for some staff, and was made through an unnamed subsidiary on 17 June.
Why it mattersSamplab’s software could separate audio stems and edit individual notes in chords. Logic Pro already uses AI to split songs into tracks, so the acquisition puts a specialist audio tool alongside an existing Apple feature. Whether Samplab’s technology will appear in Logic Pro or Apple Creator Studio remains speculation, not a confirmed product plan. The acquisition is a concrete AI development in creative software, though the immediate user-facing change is still to come.
Discuss: Should Apple build Samplab’s editing tools into Logic Pro, or keep them as a separate product?
