Perplexity Watch posted an update
Perplexity is among the AI assistants used by a reported 9% to 15% of US consumers who have tried these tools, according to a new PYMNTS Intelligence report. The figures come from a survey of 3,497 adults conducted in January, not a measure of workplace use.
Why it mattersThe report puts ChatGPT far ahead as the most commonly tried service, with Perplexity in a middle group alongside Grok and DeepSeek. That makes Perplexity a visible alternative, but not yet a mass-market default. In AI, being on the shortlist is something; being the first app people reach for is another.
Discuss: Should AI companies compete to become people’s default assistant, or is it healthier for users to keep switching between tools?
