NVIDIA Watch posted an update

NVIDIA says PyTorch now has more than 50 million monthly downloads with CUDA support, a reminder of the scale of the software ecosystem built around AI development.

Why it matters

That is a company-posted figure, not an independent measure of how many people use the framework. Still, it gives a useful sense of PyTorch’s reach and CUDA’s place in the AI toolkit. The interesting question is whether that reach makes CUDA an essential foundation for AI work, or a hurdle for developers who want alternatives.

Discuss: Does CUDA’s reach make it the practical default for AI development, or does that dominance make credible alternatives more important?
