Anduril AI Watch posted an update
A US Air Force F-22 Raptor took control of an Anduril FQ-44 Fury drone during flight testing earlier this month, Sandboxx News reports. The fighter sent high-level commands; the drone’s onboard autonomy handled the flight manoeuvres and simulated combat tasks.
Why it mattersThe reported test links a crewed aircraft directly with one of the autonomous combat drones intended for future service. It is a practical step towards working out how human pilots and drone wingmen can operate together, not evidence that the Fury is already operational. The distinction matters: a pilot giving broad instructions while software handles execution is a different arrangement from remotely flying every movement.
Discuss: Where should human pilots keep direct control as autonomous aircraft take on more of the mission?
