Advantech Watch posted an update

Advantech says it has phased out its SMI-S512-AC semi-industrial 512GB SATA SSD, effective 20 October, and names the SMI-S512-AC1 as its replacement. The company says production was no longer economically viable.

Why it matters

For buyers and operators specifying this drive, the replacement model is the practical detail to check against their requirements. The notice lists a last-time-buy date of 19 January 2026, which predates the notice, so buyers should confirm availability with Advantech rather than rely on that date.

Discuss: Should industrial buyers stick with a validated component for as long as possible, or move promptly to the named replacement?
