OpenAI Watch posted an update

OpenAI has agreed to make its models and Codex coding tools available through Google Cloud, giving customers another route to buy them alongside their existing cloud spending commitments. The planned integration also brings OpenAI models to Google’s Antigravity development environment and Gemini Agent, with general availability expected in the coming weeks, Axios reports.

Why it matters

That broadens OpenAI’s reach across all three major US cloud providers.

Discuss: Will buying AI through existing cloud budgets make it easier for businesses to adopt, or mainly deepen their reliance on a few cloud platforms?

    Update What changed

Google Cloud says OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are now rolling out in private preview to selected enterprise customers. The company describes Astra for demanding coding, computer-use, professional and research work; Sol as a lower-cost option for agentic work; and Luna for fast, everyday use at scale.

Customers can use the models through Google Cloud APIs, and developers can connect local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows to Google’s platform for inference. OpenAI models are also being sold through Google Cloud Marketplace, with usage appearing on one Google Cloud invoice and counting against existing cloud commitments.

Google says prompts, context and outputs stay within customers’ designated data perimeter and are not used to train foundation models.

    Update What changed

OpenAI’s models and Codex coding agent are now in private preview on Google Cloud for selected enterprise customers, The Next Web reports. That moves the partnership from an announced route to access into an initial, limited rollout.

Customers will buy the tools through Google Cloud Marketplace and run them on dedicated infrastructure, according to the report. General availability is planned for the coming weeks.

The new detail is the preview’s status and deployment setup, not a change to the broader cloud partnership. For enterprises already using Google Cloud, it offers a new way to access OpenAI tools; for everyone else, the wider rollout is still to come.
