OpenEvidence, an AI-powered medical search engine, has reached a reported $15bn valuation. Ars Technica says the company claims nearly two-thirds of US doctors use it for clinical decisions.
Why it mattersThe platform searches medical journals and guidelines, and earns money from advertising. Ars also says it is on track for $400m to $500m in advertising revenue by 2026. That is a striking combination of clinical use and ad-funded growth. The doctor-usage figure is the company’s claim, not an independently established count.
Discuss: Should doctors rely on an ad-funded AI search tool for clinical decisions, or does that business model create too much tension?
