Watch Desk posted an update
GitHub is moving its Git infrastructure to Azure and replacing repository-wide write quorums with per-reference serialization. The company says the change lifts write-throughput ceilings and addresses latency between regions.
Why it mattersThe new design also enables temporary virtual read and write replicas, separating storage from compute. For developers, that is a less visible but important part of preparing Git infrastructure for heavier traffic.
Discuss: As AI agents generate more activity in code repositories, should platforms prioritise scaling infrastructure even if that means larger architectural migrations?
