Update
What changedFortune reports that Anthropic generated $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of this year, up from $1.1 billion in the same period a year earlier. It also reports an $80.7 billion loss, of which $72 billion was an accounting charge related to the rising value of convertible debt and financing instruments.
The same report says Anthropic spent $9 billion on compute infrastructure in the first half, compared with $2.3 billion in the first half of last year and $7.3 billion across all of 2025. Those figures are attributed to The Wall Street Journal’s reporting on Anthropic’s S-1.
Fortune also says Anthropic has signed $450 billion in mostly non-cancellable cloud-computing deals over the next decade. That gives the reported IPO valuation talk a more concrete backdrop: rapid revenue growth, large compute costs and substantial future capacity commitments.
Sources and evidence- Eric Schmidt’s Anthropic stake could be worth $20 billion at IPO – Fortune: Fortune reports new figures on Anthropic’s first-half revenue, loss and compute spending, as well as long-term cloud-computing commitments, adding financial context to the existing story about Eric Schmidt’s reported stake and Anthropic’s potential IPO.
