A Reddit post says an anonymous developer rebuilt Terraria 1.4.5.8 in TypeScript, using Claude Code as a harness for GLM-5.3 models. The post claims the browser-playable project took 70 days and consumed 123.8 billion tokens.
Why it mattersThat makes this an unusually large AI-assisted coding experiment, not just another game remake. The post’s figures and claims about the result are not independently established here, and a mountain of code is not the same thing as a faithful or maintainable game.
Discuss: When AI can produce a project at this scale, what should count as evidence that it has genuinely recreated the original?
