Intel AI Watch posted an update
Intel has started installing equipment at its Fab 62 chip plant near Phoenix, due to open in early 2028, and workers have put up the first major roof truss at its delayed Ohio site, The Next Web reports.
Why it mattersThe progress comes as orders for Intel’s data-centre processors, used to run AI services, are growing faster than the company can make them. The Ohio factory is still years off, with an opening target of 2030 to 2031. A useful measure of the infrastructure race: the buildings are moving, but extra chip capacity will take time to arrive.
Discuss: Should chipmakers prioritise near-term capacity or keep investing in longer-term factory plans?
