Four OAuth extensions may help govern what AI agents are allowed to do, but they do not settle how permissions travel through chains of delegation or how to revoke them at scale, a WorkOS analysis of an October 2026 draft argues.
Why it mattersThe author’s practical advice is to track user intent, record delegation and build a way to revoke permissions in bulk at the application level. That is less glamorous than giving an agent a shiny new token, and rather more useful than discovering it has become a “god token”.
Discuss: Should developers solve these gaps in their own applications now, or wait for the standards to catch up?
