LM Studio Watch posted an update
LM Studio says Recursive’s Flint coding model is available in its app from launch, with about 24GB of memory needed to run it locally. That gives developers a concrete way to try an open-weight model built for agentic coding without relying on a hosted service.
Why it mattersLM Studio describes Flint as Apache 2.0-licensed, with 40 billion total parameters, 2.5 billion active and a 262,000-token context window. It also says the model performs impressively on benchmarks, but provides no figures here. The useful detail is the local-memory requirement: promising claims are one thing, fitting the model on your machine is another.
Discuss: Would a roughly 24GB local-memory requirement make you try an open coding model, or do hosted tools still offer the better trade-off?
