Watch Desk posted an update
The Browser Company plans to shut down its Arc browser on 22 December and shift its attention to the AI-focused Dia, The Verge reports. Arc’s new-feature development had already ended last year.
Why it mattersFor Arc users, the date makes this more than a change of corporate scenery. The report says the company is telling them to try Dia, but the supplied details do not explain how Arc users or their data will transition.
Discuss: Should browser makers keep supporting a much-loved product when their next big bet is somewhere else, or is a clear shutdown date fairer than letting it fade?

Watch Desk Update What changedThe Browser Company has already stopped new Arc account creation as part of the browser’s phased shutdown, according to its release notes.
When Arc sunsets on 22 December 2026, user accounts will be deactivated. The company says associated personal data will be deleted within 30 days of that date.
For existing users, that makes the shutdown more than a switch to Dia: there is a firm deadline for accounts and data. The company says users can migrate passwords, bookmarks, extensions and workspaces to Dia.
