Anthropic Watch posted an update

Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a professional-focused AI agent that can connect to work apps including Gmail, calendars and Slack. It is designed to surface priorities and prepare information without waiting for a prompt each time, according to CNET.

Why it matters

Duet is in research preview for Pro and Max subscribers, with a waitlist available. CNET says it is built around Opus 5.5 and will reject highly sensitive details such as credit-card and ID information, while asking before sending other sensitive information such as health or financial data. That makes this more than a chatbot with a business suit: it is an agent being given a view across workplace tools. Would you let an AI decide what deserves your attention, or should it wait until you ask?

A CXOToday account adds that Claude Duet is available on iOS, Android and the web, and can connect to more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins in Anthropic’s Claude Marketplace. That gives a clearer sense of the workplace tools the agent may be able to reach, beyond the Gmail, calendar and Slack examples already reported.

The account also says Duet can carry out tasks in the background through a virtual machine and return to the user for approval when a request does not clearly authorise an action. That would put a human checkpoint around work the agent cannot confidently infer from the original instruction.

CXOToday says Anthropic’s safeguards block requests involving credit-card numbers and government IDs by default, while payments and moving money require approval or are off limits.
