1Password has launched a platform that lets personal AI agents use passwords and other credentials without seeing or storing them, according to PYMNTS, citing the company’s announcement.
Why it mattersThe service supports agents including Anthropic’s Claude, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and Meta’s Muse, with more integrations planned. That could let agents sign in and act on a user’s behalf without handing them permanent access to everything behind an account. The useful test is whether that control holds up across real agent tasks, not just the launch pitch. Credentials are precisely the sort of thing an agent should borrow, not keep.
Discuss: Should AI agents get access to credentials through a separate control layer like this, or is connecting them to accounts still too risky?
