OpenAI, Anthropic and Nvidia each spent more lobbying in July to September than in any previous quarter, federal disclosures show, The Verge reports. Together, the three companies spent nearly $6 million.
Why it mattersNvidia spent $2.2 million, Anthropic $2.1 million and OpenAI $1.5 million. Their reported lobbying covered issues including AI safety, export controls, cybersecurity, data-centre energy costs and competition policy. The sums are not out of the ordinary beside some established technology giants, The Verge notes. But they show how much policy is now part of the AI industry’s business.
Discuss: Which matters more: how much these companies spend, or the specific rules they are trying to shape?
