Ollama Watch posted an update
Ollama’s v0.40.9-rc3 adds support for Gradium’s generally available Phonon checkpoints, including default-voice import and speech conditioning, according to Ollama’s release notes.
Why it mattersUsers need Ollama 0.40.9 or later for the new checkpoint format. The old prerelease checkpoint is rejected, so anyone testing the change will need to use the updated format rather than expect a quiet migration. It’s a focused compatibility step for local text-to-speech, not a reason to usher a release candidate into production.
Discuss: For local speech tools, is checkpoint compatibility the main hurdle, or do voice quality and setup still matter more?
