AI agents making business decisions need current, governed information tailored to the job, says IBM executive Shaun Clowes. His proposed “streamhouse” architecture would connect operational data where it is produced, rather than first gathering everything in one central store.
Why it mattersClowes told SiliconANGLE that agents may need to combine information across systems, such as travel bookings and baggage tracking, while it is still relevant. He argues that specialised agents should receive definitions and datasets suited to their tasks. That is a useful architectural argument, not proof that the approach delivers better results. But it puts the spotlight on a less glamorous part of enterprise AI: getting the right information to a model before asking it to be clever.
Discuss: Should companies build AI around a centralised store of business data, or connect agents to governed information close to where it is produced?
