Epic has clarified that entrants in its November AI MegaJam do not have to use AI, reversing an FAQ that said they did. Participants can now use as little or as much as they choose, PC Gamer reports.

Why it matters

The theme is due on 11 November, with teams making games from 12 to 15 November. Winners in three categories will each receive $7,500, and teams may also be eligible for continuation grants of up to $50,000. That change turns a compulsory-tools contest into a game jam where AI use is encouraged, not a condition of entry. A small FAQ correction, perhaps, but one that changes what entrants are signing up for.

Discuss: Should an AI-themed creative contest be allowed to require AI use, or should entrants always be free to choose their tools?
