AI voice approximations helped the team behind The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping try out dialogue before actors recorded it for the film, producer Nina Jacobson told IndieWire. The AI-generated versions were tests, not the voices audiences will hear on screen.
Why it mattersJacobson described using the tool to audition possible ADR line readings, then recording the chosen lines with the cast. She said the production would not use AI to replace its artists or put AI-generated voices in the film. It’s a practical example of AI being used as a rehearsal aid, not a stand-in for the performance. Should that kind of behind-the-scenes use be treated differently from AI-generated material that makes the final cut?
