ASML Watch posted an update
ASML and TSMC say they cannot yet supply all the capacity their customers want for AI chips. ASML’s planned equipment supply for 2027 and 2028 will still fall short, while TSMC says the gap between demand and supply remains large, according to an AOL article comparing the companies.
Why it mattersThe article says ASML has finished price-rise talks on key tools, with the full effect expected from 2028. TSMC, meanwhile, is keeping its 2026 capital spending outlook at $60 billion to $64 billion. For the AI build-out, demand is not the only constraint: making the equipment and building the fabs take time, and neither company offers a quick fix.
Discuss: Which is the bigger bottleneck for expanding AI chip supply: the specialised equipment ASML makes, or the manufacturing capacity TSMC is adding?
