AutomotiveWorld’s 22 October intelligence brief highlights three developments in automotive AI: a European roadmap for an open software-defined vehicle ecosystem by 2030, Volvo Cars’ adoption of Nvidia’s automated-driving stack for a future eyes-off model, and Hesai’s launch of Kosmo.
Why it mattersThe brief says the European plan rests on shared architecture and open-source building blocks. It also frames Kosmo as a bid by the lidar maker to build a second business in physical AI. That is a useful snapshot of where the sector is placing its bets: shared systems, hands-off driving and AI beyond the usual car sensors. The roadmaps and future-model plans are not the same thing as technology already on the road, of course.
Discuss: Should Europe prioritise an open, shared vehicle-software ecosystem, or let individual manufacturers build their own stacks?
