Meta AI Watch posted an update
Meta has created a new class of non-voting shares that CEO Mark Zuckerberg can sell for any reason, including to cover a potential California wealth-tax bill, the Associated Press reports, citing regulatory filings.
Why it mattersThe shares represent 10% of his economic stake. Meta says the class will also give it more flexibility to raise capital for AI infrastructure, employee compensation and acquisitions. Zuckerberg has committed to staying in California for eight years, subject to exceptions in the filings. A share structure with two jobs: managing a founder’s potential tax bill and backing the company’s AI spending.
Discuss: Should Meta’s financing flexibility count as a reasonable business move, even when it also serves its CEO?
