Police in Cheongju, South Korea, are investigating a middle-school student accused of creating and sharing sexual deepfake images of female classmates, as well as two students suspected of assaulting him, The Straits Times reports.
Why it mattersPolice said the images allegedly used classmates’ photos without consent, including screenshots from video calls. The images came to light on 16 October; the assault was reported to have taken place on 19 October. The student was reportedly hospitalised. Police say both investigations are ongoing.
Discuss: Should schools treat non-consensual AI-generated sexual images mainly as a technology-abuse issue requiring victim support, or as a disciplinary matter for the students involved?
