Getac has launched two rugged laptops, the B360X and B360X Pro, designed to run AI workloads where a reliable internet connection may be out of reach. Getac says the B360X’s top processor option supports up to 180 TOPS of total compute performance; both models are due in November 2026.

Why it matters

The practical draw is local computing in demanding settings such as utilities, manufacturing and emergency response, rather than relying on the cloud for every task. The machines also bring a 14-inch screen, Wi-Fi 7 and IP66-rated protection. The AI performance figure is a manufacturer specification, not a measure of how well a particular application will run.

Discuss: For frontline AI, is the ability to work offline worth the premium and trade-offs of a specialised rugged laptop?
