OpenAI Watch posted an update
OpenAI is reportedly seeking a $1.25 trillion valuation, down from the $1.4 trillion previously discussed with investors, as it pursues a further $30 billion in funding. Coinpaper attributes the reported change to Bloomberg and says the fundraising terms remain subject to change.
Why it mattersThe proposed figure is still above OpenAI’s reported $852 billion valuation after its March funding round. So this is a lower negotiating target, not a fall in the value of a completed deal. A trillion dollars remains a rather large number to defend, particularly as investors weigh AI spending against returns.
Discuss: Do you read the reported cut as sensible negotiating, or a sign investors are losing patience with the AI spending bill?
