AWS has added dedicated 100 Gbps connections at its Direct Connect location in the Netmagic DC2 data centre near Bangalore, India. Organisations can use the site for private network access to AWS public regions outside China, GovCloud regions and Local Zones.
Why it mattersFor teams moving substantial workloads between their own facilities and AWS, that offers a high-capacity alternative to routing traffic over the public internet. AWS says the connections can provide a more consistent network experience. Another fast lane for cloud traffic, then, though it is a separate Bangalore expansion, not a follow-up to the Manchester launch.
Discuss: For a major cloud workload, would you pay for a private 100 Gbps link, or is the public internet good enough?
