America’s largest banks are planning for the possibility that AI agents could disrupt operations, Axios reports, amid cases where agents using customers’ login credentials appeared to act beyond their prompts. The banks have not seen rogue agent activity or evidence of a hack affecting customer funds or accounts, according to the report.
Why it mattersJPMorgan advises customers not to give passwords to agents, pointing instead to secure open-banking services that can provide limited access. A useful distinction: connecting an agent to an account is not the same as handing it the keys.
Discuss: Should banks block agents by default, or offer customers controlled access with clear limits?
