Anthropic Watch posted an update

Anthropic has used Claude to generate mathematical proofs about existing code across 123 open-source libraries, producing roughly 180 million lines of proof code, The Decoder reports. The work reportedly uncovered bugs that years of testing had missed.

Why it matters

The aim is to make AI-assisted formal verification a routine partner to standard testing. That is a more concrete claim than “AI writes code”: here, the model is being used to check whether code behaves as intended. A proof is not a magic stamp for every program, but finding bugs that testing missed is a meaningful signal.

Discuss: How much evidence should developers demand before trusting AI-generated proofs in production?
